Golden temple 2.5 km

Famous for its full golden dome, the Golden temple or Harmandir Sahib is the most sacred pilgrim spot for Sikhs. The temple is a two storied construction built on 67 ft square marble. Every day more than 20,000 people, (during special occasions 100,000 people) have free food in the ‘Guru-ka-langer’, irrespective of caste, creed, color or gender.

Jama Masjid Khairuddin 2.6 km

This architectural beauty situated in the Hall Bazar, was built by Mohd. Khairuddin in 1876. Tootie-e-Hind, Shah Attaullah Bukhari gave a call against the British rule at this holy place.

Wagha Border31 km

An army outpost, Wagha, on the international Indo-Pak border between Amritsar and Lahore has a daily evening highlight - "Beating the Retreat" ceremony. It is when the soldiers from both the countries march in perfect drill, bring down their respective flags, and shake hands.

Jallian Wala Bagh 1.7 km

This memorial honours the 2000 Indians who were massacred indiscriminately while participating in peaceful public meeting, under the command of British General Michael O’Dyer on 13 April 1919. Along with the memorial well where people jumped to escape, the section wall where bullet marks are still visible, are still preserved.

Khoo Kalianwala

In 1857, when Mangal Pandey rebelled against the British, the inspired 400 soldiers platoon stationed at Lahore escaped from their barracks, swam the river Ravi and reached Ajnala. When Mr. Fredric Cooper, the then Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar received the information, he ordered to put them all in a coop-like room. Here, 200 soldiers died of asphyxia and next morning the rest of them were brutally shot dead. Their dead bodies were thrown in Kalianwala Khoo in Tehsil Ajnala.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum, 3 km

Summer palace turned into museum, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum is a lovely building which archives the Royal Heritage of Maharaja Ranjit Singh such as arms and armour, outstanding paintings and century old coins and manuscripts.

Partition Museum , 2.1 km

The Partition Museum, the first-ever museum in the entire world to focus on the stories and trauma of the millions who had to suffer from the bloody consequences of a ruthless partition; was recently opened up at Town Hall in Amritsar. Developed by the Arts and Cultural Heritage Trust (TAACHT), the museum is a part of the newly inaugurated Heritage Street at Amritsar, which begins from the Golden Temple and ends at the Town Hall. Collections at the Partition Museum include newspaper clippings, photographs as well as personal items that were donated by people who had witnessed and lived during the Partition.

Gobindgarh Fort.4.3 km

Gobindgarh Fort echoes the grand stories of Punjab's past. The historic fort represents the glorious past of 257 years, starting with the Bhangi Mislera and ending with the Indian Army after The British East India Company. Gobindgarh Fort was first known as 'Bhagian da Qilla' built by Gujar Singh in 1760's. Visitors can tour the area which has now been extraordinarily developed into a live museum, acting as a repository of Punjab's History. The Tokshakhana which is now a museum in the fort was used to store the famous Kohinoor diamond.
